Dreams Hotel Dalat

Historical Traveler Reviews of Dreams Hotel Dalat

Best stay in Vietnam

from TheMohsen
This is by far the best hotel we stayed at during 4 weeks in Vietnam. There are two Dreams hotels within a 2 minute walk from one another: the original Dreams and Dreams 2. Both are run by the same family. We stayed at the original one.

The rooms are comfortable and clean, and come with TV. There is no AC, but you do not need it in Dalat.

There are 8 computers in the lobby of the hotel with free Internet access. The included breakfast is superb. After 3 weeks of being offered a choice of eggs OR cheese OR jam...and no you cannot get an extra piece of cheese, Dreams's breakfast was a feast: fresh mangoes, pineapple, watermelon, passion fruit, avocados, bananas, tomatoes, freshly squeezed passion fruit juice, bread, eggs (any style), jam, butter, cheese, peanut butter, Vegimite (for the Ausies), Marmite (for the Brits), tea, coffee, and the list goes on. And the room? $14 including all you can eat breakfast.

But that's not all. On our first day there we checked out the market (which is fantastic), and were wondering, with all that fresh produce, if there are any cooking classes in town. So we asked the owner, Mrs Dung (pronounced Zyung). She said there was nothing on offer in Dalat, but ended up cooking us dinner that night, and at our request, had us help her cook dinner the second night after taking us shopping to the market. Dinner the second night included a number of other guests from the hotel. The food was great and she refused to have us pay for it.

I told Mrs Dung that she should run cooking classes, and charge for them. With all the fresh produce in Dalat and her great cooking skills, there will be demand. So if you are interested, you should mention that to her.

Aside from the hotel and food, Dung, her husband and the other staff were always of great help with tour/activity recommendations and bookings, and with visa extensions. On the activities front, you got 10% discount on our canyonning trip booked with Phat Tire Adventures after we mentioned that we were staying at Dreams.

The only negative side is that they do not have a website to get the hotel phone number/contact details. After a massive search we found the number 063 833 748 that got us straight to Mrs Dung.

After staying at the Novatel in Dalat for two nights $125.00US due to the Holiday festival and a shortage of accomodation( we didnt book ahead)We sought out cheaper accomodation for a further 2 nights. We were recommended the Dream hotel by a touist office. After prior recommendations on other hotels in vietnam(and being somewhat ripped off) we were a little dubious! We shouldnt have been. Fantastic value for money. Terrific staff. wonderful owner and very clean comfortable accomodation. Stands up to the Novatel. Maybe not the same quality furnishings, but as clean as, and much more homely/friendly. Breakfast a feast of fresh eggs, toast, fresh fruit and more, all for $25US for 3 persons.Organised tours,( great guides) and transport (Private driver to Ho Chi Minh) all for the cost of 2 night s at the Novatel. The Dream hotel accomodated to all our needs. Highly reccomended to a vast range of travellers.

Best stay in Vietnam

This hotel is a gem. The breakfast alone is worth the price, since it gave us a chance to mingle with other guests. The rooms were clean and comfortable, but the best part was the service.

The staff did everything from arranging transportation, confirming travel plans, ordering dinner for me, mending my mom's pants, and giving me useful advice on what to do. They really went above and beyond the call of duty. It was the level of service of a 4 star hotel with the personal touch of a smaller establishment.

I would stay here again in a minute and wish that Dreams Hotel would have branches in every city in Vietnam.

Best Value in Dalat

We stayed at Dreams Hotel for 3 nights and couldn't believe what great value for money this hotel is. Dreams just seems to do everything right - great location, close to all the tour booking offices and restaurants, clean, well-appointed rooms, free internet with not just one but six terminals and extremely friendly helpful staff and owners who speak English and French. But wait there's more! The included breakfast is amazing, a huge array of fresh tropical fruit, fresh baguettes, eggs and for all those home-sick kiwis and aussies, vegemite!

For anyone staying at Dreams, make sure you check out the Wild Sunflower restaurant for dinner one night too. It is just up the hill from the hotel.

Easy Riding at Dreams

Had a great 2 night stay at Dreams. Cheap clean rooms in a central location. A very friendly couple run the guest house who are happy to help at all times. Internet is free and breakfast included (in the kitchen downstairs).

Check out the easy riders while you're there - you won't be disappointed!

Excellent service and very clean

We stayed at Dreams for 2 nights in mid nov. We walked in off the street after looking at a few other places. There was only one room left for 12USD per night including breakfast and internet.

The room was very clean the shower was great ( the best we had in Vietnam) and the bed was comfortable.

The owner was very friendly and put us at ease straight away. She booked us a brilliant day trip in the country. We also tried to get flights to Saigon but they were all booked up and the owner phoned the airline to shortlist us She then phone them back several times. You can't ask for better service.

The breakfast here is also extreamly good.

We would highly recomend staying at this hotel. We could not fault it at all.

Loved my stay here

Stayed here for 2 nights after it being recommended to me by other travellers in HUe. I was not disappointed. My room at front of hotel had a bathroom with spa bath - after 2 weeks of heat in Hanoi and Hue I actually enjoyed the bath!

The staff were terrific - brekkies great - you sit down in family style kitchen round huge table and help yourself to brekkie with staff cooking up your eggs the way you like it! Even had vegemite and peanut butter! for your bread, along with fruit, juice, tea/ coffee, and baguettes.

Owner organised a day tour for me at going rate ( he wasnt an easy rider but very good anyhow! a teacher by trade who now works as a guide ) and I had the best day outing - asked me what I wanted to see and then he made suggestions as well - he had excellent english and we had some interesting conversations about life in vietnam and where it may be heading . On tour we covered most dalat attractions but also outlying areas/ villages with lunch cooked up by one of the rice wine farmers

I cant really think of any real negatives - one could ask for a back room if concerned with noise from road or nearby cafes. Happy that I stayed at this hotel and Ill be booking in again next trip

Stay at aother cozy place......

Is the slogan on their business cards, and nothing could be more true from Madame Jung and her family who all have a hand in the day to day operation of the Dreams Hotels. There are two hotels, located within 200 meters from eachother, offering 19 rooms, ranging from $10 to $20 USD per night. No high or low season here, Madame Jung keeps things simple. A plentiful made to order breakfast is included with all rooms, laundry service, motorbike rentals, free mountain bikes, in room massage, and internet access are some of the amenities. I have never experienced a more freindly staff than during our stay at the Dreams.

Madame Jung doesn't miss a detail, even noticing I was celebrating a birthday while we were there. To my pleasant surprise, she organized a bar be que for my birthday dinner and invited all the guests. This is one birthday I will cherish.

Stay at another cozy place......then call the Dreams Hotel.
